FAQs

What can I expect from my first session?

Your first session will be an assessment session where we will discuss your problems and I will take a few details such as address, contact details, DOB, medication and /or illnesses and GP details. Then I will take a brief history of what is concerning you now. We would explore what your aim from counselling may be and then look at our working agreement /counselling contract. This will lay down how we expect to work together in your sessions and explain more about confidentiality.

Under BACP rules I have to have supervision for my work and this is also bound by confidentiality. Supervision will help me to explore that I am working to the best of my ability in your sessions and ensures I continue to work ethically with you.

What Qualifications and Experience do you have?

I have an Advanced Diploma in Person Centred Counselling and a Diploma in Clinical Supervision.

I have experience in Mindfulness and trained as a Bereavement worker with Cruise. I have also designed and presented one day workshops for CPD around bereavement, working with cancellations and endings, use of sculpting in therapy etc.

What is your availability?

I offer sessions on Tuesdays,Wednesdays,Thursdays and Fridays with a few evening appointments when available.

How much will each session cost?

A counselling session lasts for 1 hour.

Costs:

  • Individual Counselling: £40 per session
  • Couples £50 per session
  • Student Counsellors: £30 per session (concession rates require student ID)
  • Supervision: £45 (60 minutes), £60 (90 minutes) - concessions rates for students

How does confidentiality work?

Whatever we discuss in your counselling session is confidential however there are a few exceptions to this. The most important of them is if I believe you are risk of harm to yourself or others then I may have to break confidentiality but hopefully we will be able to discuss this and decide together what is the best course of action.
